Client: French Market Corporation
Completion Date: 2008
As the French Market Corporation planned to unveil the newly renovated Flea and Farmers’ Markets, many of the interior tenant spaces were still unoccupied.
To highlight the spaces to potential tenants and visitors, the French Market Corporation commissioned Billes Partners to create 34 visually striking banners.
Working with a series of antique photos of the French Market properties, Billes Partners chose a festive, colorful design for the lower section of each banner to frame them. The color choices were made to reflect and compliment the French Market District’s green, orange and white logo, itself part of the banner design.
Visually exploding from the French Market’s logo a series of circles and leafy ornaments were incorporated, suggestive of the cornucopia of organic, earth-based fare one finds at a farmers market.
Working with a local printer, Billes Partners handled the project from design through print production. The banners successfully enhanced the visual appeal of the Market, and especially the vacant tenant spaces.
These banners can still be seen throughout the French Market properties, and are often used as a backdrop for musical performers or for the Market’s many festivities.
